Additional info. Message from a relative on Ancestry.com :

I wrote this comment:
Hi. According to the US Headstone Applications for Military Veterans, 1925-1963,
the surname COVALS was corrected to COVALSKY. He is listed on my High School Veterans
web site, Hackensack, NJ.
Have a good day!
George Toriello

His response:
George's father was my uncle, via a second marriage to my father's sister Sophie Kozlik.
George's father's birth name was Covalsky, and all of his children were Covaksky.
When George's mother died his Dad changed their last name to Covals prior to marrying my Aunt Sophie.
I visited their grave in 2017 and noted that George's last name on his headstone is "Covals".
"George Covals B: Sept 28, 1921, D: June 7, 1944".

I have photo of it if you would like. (Since requested..1/10/2019.)
Thanks for the information.
